912 submissions from 72 countries of the world have been submitted for participation in the People and Environment Baikal International Film Festival
Most of them came from Latin America – especially from Brazil and Argentina, India, Turkey and Iran. There are also works from France, Germany, Nigeria, South Africa, USA, as well as representatives of French Polynesia, Burkina Faso, Afghanistan, Ecuador, Uganda, and Thailand. The majority of the applicants – more than 400 – are documentary filmmakers. The number of fiction and animation films is almost equal – 248 and 250, respectively.

The shortlist of the People and Environment Film Festival has been announced
Out of 123 applications of the 21st Baikal International Film Festival named after V. Rasputin competition program 25 works have been selected: 15 documentaries, 7 popular science and 3 feature films. The majority of them come from Russia. They are 18 works, including those created by Irkutsk filmmakers Anastasia Zverkova, Yulia Byvsheva and Pavel Skorobogatov. Also, there are works from Iran, Slovakia, Argentina, the UK and the USA. The list of participants of the non-competition program and the full-dome cinema section will be announced later.

Submission Deadline Extended
Directorate of the Baikal International Film Festival named after V. Rasputin has extended the submission deadline for participation in the new edition to April 25 inclusive. The shortlist will be announced in June, and the Festival itself will be held in September. The Festival regulations and the application form are available at www.baikalkinofest.ru. Anniversary Baikal International Film Festival: Full Program Announced
Opening of the 20th Baikal International Film Festival People and Environment named after V. Rasputin will be held in Irkutsk on September 8 at the Zvezdny Cinema. The full program has been formed and published on the website of the film festival.

The shortlist of the anniversary People and Environment Film Festival has been announced
39 works were included in the short list of the 20th season out of 186 applications submitted. There are 7 documentary, 5 popular science, 3 feature and 12 animated films in the competition program. The non-competition program consists of 12 works.

People and Environment Film Festival application deadline has been extended
The directorate of the Baikal International Film Festival named after V. Rasputin extends the application deadline until May 4, inclusive. The longlist will be announced in June, and the Festival itself will be held from 23 to 27 September.
