Submissions are Now Open for the People and Environment Film Festival

According to Andrey Salnikov, the general director of the festival, the new edition coincides with the celebration of Valentin Rasputin 85th anniversary whose name the largest film event of the Angara region has been bearing since 2015.

The entries will be evaluated by an international jury, which will determine the winners in the following categories: Best Documentary Film, Best Feature Film, Best Popular Science Film, and Best Animated Film. The special Baikal Prize is awarded to a project on the most pressing environmental problems. The financial reward for the Grand Prix winner is 300,000 rubles.  

Let us recall that in the period from September 8 to 12, 2021, the 20th anniversary Baikal International Film Festival People and Environment attracted more than 9,200 people.The film screenings were attended by 5,300 people, the opening and closing ceremonies, round table, workshops and creative meetings of the Film School attracted more than 1,600 people. More than 2,300 people saw the films of the competition and non-competition programs on Nonfiction.Film, the online streaming platform of the Documentary Film Center.

The Festival was established by the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation and the Irkutsk Branch of the Union of Cinematographers. The Festival is held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Government of the Irkutsk Region, the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Irkutsk Region. The Directorate of the Festival is the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund. The Festival President is Sergey Miroshnichenko (documentary filmmaker, producer, teacher, Honored Artist of Russia, winner of two State Prizes, professor, head of the workshop of the Department of Non-Fiction Film Directing at the VGIK, academician of the National Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Russia, member of the Russian Academy of Television TEFI).
