Honored guests, participants and the jury of the festival, representatives of the youth and media juries, members of the Union of Cinematographers and representatives of the Irkutsk branch of VGIK walked along the red carpet. The oldest film school in the world this year celebrated its centenary.
Guests were greeted by the director general of the film festival, director of the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund Andrei Salnikov.
The festival was opened by: Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Irkutsk Region Valentina Voblikova and vice-president of the festival, chairman of the Irkutsk Regional Branch of the Union of Filmmakers of Russia Olga Belskaya. The audience greeted the chairman of the jury, director, screenwriter, film playwright, producer, film actor, Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of the Presidential Award, director, screenwriter, actor, creative producer of Disney in Russia Vladimir Grammatikov (Russia) and his colleagues in the jury:

Chin Mo Young (South Korea), documentary director, producer, screenwriter;
Irina Uralskaya (Russia), operator and director;
Ira Cormannshaus (Germany), sociologist, film expert, translator, journalist
More than 20 filmmakers came to the festival to present their work.
At the opening ceremony, the winners of the 5th Baikal pitching were announced.
The awards were presented by the Minister of Culture and Archives of the Irkutsk Region Olga Stasyulevich and the Executive Director of the Youth Center of the Union of Filmmakers of Russia Dmitry Yakunin.
The festival was opened by a competitive documentary film «Father Baikal». This is a story about the creation of a monumental composition of the world famous sculptor Dashi Namdakov, installed on Olkhon — the largest island of Lake Baikal. The film was presented by director Marina-Maria Melnik, cameraman Yuri Yermolin and project sponsor, Irkutsk philanthropist and gallery owner Viktor Bronstein.
