In Irkutsk Regional Film Foundation was held a creative meeting with Emir Kusturica

On the 12 of September in Irkutsk Regional Film Foundation was held a creative meeting with the legendary Yugoslav and Serbian film director Emir Kusturica.

This meeting was organized for Irkutsk film community – in the hall were present film directors, screenwriters, cameramen, sound engineers, director editing, members of Russian Filmmakers Union, All-Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK) teachers and students, admirers of his work not only from Irkutsk, but also from Makhachkala, Chita, Ulan-Ude, Angarsk, Shelekhov. Unfortunately, the were not enough place for everyone.

Before meeting audience watched on the big screen a documentary Who is this Kusturica? by Natalya Gugueva. The meeting with the famous cinematographer was held in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Audience questions were answered by Emir Kusturica together with a People`s Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev, who facilitated the meeting. It was Matsuev who invited Kusturica with his music band «The No Smoking Orchestra» to the Festival «Stars on Baikal».

In memory of the meeting on behalf of the Film Festival «People and Environment» management a handmade pendant in form of vintage camera and an invitation to the next year Festival (as a jury member) were presented to Emir Kusturica.

According to the general director of the Festival, director of Autonomous public institution of culture Irkutsk Regional Film Foundation Andrey Salnikov, this visit by a filmmaker, composer, musician, actor Emir Kusturica, whose work find recognition and response all around the world, is an important event not only for Irkuts cinema community, but also for the whole region.
