The Faroe Islands are an ecological paradise with free medical care, excellent education and a high standard of living. Nevertheless the residents of Faroe are often called the last barbarians of Europe because of their tradition of hunting for the small black whales – grind. During the hunting the sea is turning red. All the citizens take part in that carnage – men, women, kids and grown-ups. The characters of the film are trying to answer why these people kill the grinds. Oddly enough nobody has asked them about it before.
