Sonya Kendel was born in 1987 in Novosibirsk. She graduated from Orenburg State University with a degree in Graphic Design in 2007 and from SHAR School-Studio in 2010. Currently lives and works in Moscow. She is a director, screenwriter, animator of Pishto Leaves cartoon, 2012 (Prize of the Russian Guild of Film Critics, Best Student Film Award, third place in the professional audience rating, Suzdal, 2012; first prize in the category Best Animated Film, Saint Anna Student and Debut Film Festival, Moscow, 2012; "White Elephant" by the Russian Guild of Film Critics for the Best Animated Film, 2012; Best Animated Short Film, Lucas International Children's Film Festival, Germany).
