The possibility to realize such projects would be a great motivation for a local filmmakers community, and script applications for shooting feature films about Siberian writers life should be supported by the Ministry of Culture, as the creative heritage left by such writers as V.Rasputin, A.Vampilov, V.Shukshin was important part of the literature heritage of the country. –I believe that in the near future the feature film on works of Rasputin will be produced. I’d like to take part in this. Works of Rasputin are very cinematic — said the President of the Festival.

Vice-President of the Film Festival Olga Belskaya reminded about its beginning once again. In 1999 the first who began to talk about the necessity of organizing a film festival which could attract attention to the problems of interaction between people and environment was Vladimir Samoilichenko – film director, documentary script writer, honored worker of Culture of Russia. His film «Suffocation» about ecological catastrophe in Angarsk city (Irkutsk region, Russia), honored with several national and international awards, including Grand Prix of international film festival in Prague (Czechoslovakia) in 1990. Since 1999 Vladimir Samoilichenko has been an active member of the Russian Academy of Cinematic Arts «Nika». Andrey Salnikov thanked the Governor of Irkutsk region and the Ministry of culture and archives for increasing the Film Festival budget. Also he highly evaluated the cooperation with the members of selection committee from Moscow who helped to make the contest program. According to him it was not only a great help in conducting the Festival, but became a very useful experience.

Andrey Merzlikin called Aleksander Vampilov — «Gagarin» in literature. Actor told about the process of immersion into the role of the great playwright, shared the feelings and thoughts about the life and works of A.Vampilov. The film became not a simple story about a Soviet and Russian writer for him, but a kind of enlightenment, eradication of ignorance. Despite the little similarity of appearance which initially discomforted the actor, persuasion of the director helped to deal with inner doubts and believe in success of the project.

Director Victor Alferov told about the film shooting process:

– The idea was very simple – to create a film about life of the person whose works I know since childhood as I grew up on Baikal in Buryatia. «Elder son» is one of my favorite films. The script is mostly based on the correspondence.

The script writer Olga Pogodina-Kuzmina mentioned that all members of the crew showed mutual understanding even in the most difficult situations during the shooting.
